School Sports Australia

Congratulations to all our divers who recently competed in the School Sports Australia Championships. I think we can unofficially say that we are the Diving School of the Year! The competition brought 145 of the nations top elite and age divers together to compete on an even playing field.

Megan Ye (Year 5) had a lovely time where the smile never left her face all week taking 2nd  11 Years Spring board, 1st 11 Years knockout, 3rd 10-12 Years platform, 1st in the 10-12 Girls synchro.

Marissa Georgakis (Year 5) was another diver who had a great time and smiled all week receiving 1st 11 Years Springboard, 1st in mixed 10-12 years springboard.

Hannah Moodie had a great competition and showed her dominance in her springboard and her consistency receiving 1st 13 Years Springboard, 2nd 13 years knockout. 

Rose Tan is an extremely elegant diver who received a number of awards including 2nd 13-14 Years Platform, 2nd 14 Years knockout, 2nd 14-16 Years Mixed synchro.

Amelia Strudwick was a late call up into the team but Amelia dived exceptionally well finishing 9th in her springboard event. Amelia and Rose teamed up for the 13-14 years girls springboard where they finished 4th narrowly missing 3rd by less than .8.                                                      

Sarah Malcolm competed in 5 events throughout the carnival and received a place in every event that she competed in!  Sarah did not drop one dive throughout the competition. 2nd 16 Years girls Springboard, 3rd in the 15-16 Years platform, 2nd 16 Years knockout, 1st 15-16 Years synchro, 3rd Team Synchro.

Sofia Al Hassan dived beautifully throughout the competition and as a bonus made lots of new friends. Sofia received a bronze medal for the 17-19 Years springboard.

Ellie Cole is another elegant diver. Ellie had a great competition receiving a 2nd in the 17-19 years Platform, 1st in the 17-19 years knockout, 1st in the 17-19 years girls synchro.

Nina Pappalardo is the  2023 NSW Team Captain and competed extremely well throughout the competition narrowly missing out on a medal. Nina was awarded “the Sportsmanship Award”, a very prestigious award from School Sports Australia.

Kyah Chalmers has grown immensly in skill and mental strength over the past year! Kyah did not drop a dive throughout the entire competition. 2nd 13 years springboard, 

Ella Hafford-McGovern I am so proud of the work that Ella has put in over the past year and this is showing in her performances - 3rd Team Synchro

Oliver Radford has had a great year, he is maturing and this is showing in his performances in the pool - 1st 11 years springboard, 1st 10-12 platform, 1st 11 Years knockout, 3rd 13-14 Years Boys and mixed Springboard 

Daniel Cassidy had a tough lead up to the competition suffering from a broken arm just prior to the championships. I am really proud of what Dan was able to put together for the championships - 3rd 11 years Springboard 

Vincent Pappalardo had a great competition. Vinnie is gradually becoming more confident and remembering not to thing about the end result before we get to the end - 13 Years springboard 2nd, 3rd 13-14 Years Platform, 2nd in the 13 Years knockout, 2nd 13-14 Years Boys and mixed Springboard 

Owen Whitbread is consistently a great performer. His smile is a welcome sight at the pool-3rd 13 years springboard,  2nd 13 years knockout

Lucas Dawes (PLC ring in) Well done Lucas, you were consistent and are always a great team mate! - 2nd 14 years springboard, 2nd13-14 Years Platform, 3rd in the 13 Years knockout, 2nd 13-14 Years Boys and mixed Springboard, 2nd Team Synchro 

Dominic Briscas (PLC ring in) Great job Dom, always great to watch, keep working on your hurdle and take offs and you will have a swag of medals next year 

Massimo Bottos (PLC ring in) Well done Mass, you did all your dives now its your time to push through your fear and keep them going. Your diving is beautiful to watch!  - 3rd 15 years Springboard, 2nd 15 years knockout, 2nd 15-16 Years boys and Mixed synchro 

Joshua Lee had a sketchie start in the lead up to the event however he showed that if he believes in himself he can achieve greatness - 2nd 16 Years Springboard, 1st 15-16 Years Platform 2nd 16 years knockout
